About Bill Hull
In 2019 Bill and Jane Hull will celebrate 50 years of marriage. Their union began on Friday evening March 28,1969, after the wedding guests had departed the sanctuary for the reception hall, Bill and Jane knelt together and took communion. This began a lifetime of discipleship to Jesus and it was tested a few weeks later. After securing an ideal apartment for seminary training, they were asked to relinquish the beautiful setting for another couple. Bill and Jane did what they thought Christ would do, they gave the apartment to the other couple. This decision began a pattern of discipleship to Christ that has provided authenticity and sincerity to the work. Bill and Jane have raised a family, and have enjoyed the blessings therein, along with the sorrows, set-backs, victories and defeats. Bill’s special calling as a Discipleship Evangelist came early in his professional life because of the influence of faculty members at his university who introduced him to the classic book, The Masterplan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman. Bill began his career as a missionary in basketball shoes by playing with Athletes in Action basketball team and was with them for six years. Bill’s understanding of what Jesus meant by “Make Disciples” in Matthew 28:18-20 began to grow. In 1976 Bill became a lead pastor and began to work it out on a practical basis. Bill and Jane spent the next twenty years in the pastoral life. During that time Bill wrote several books including, Jesus Christ Disciple Maker, The Disciple Making Pastor and The Disciple Making Church. In all Bill has written over 25 books. The last twenty years have found Bill leading efforts to return the church its disciple making roots. In the 1990s it was T-NET INTERNATIONAL which Bill co-founded. In more recent years he has co-founded The Bonhoeffer Project, which takes leaders and turns them into leaders of disciple making movements. The Bonhoeffer Project is fast growing and Bill is preparing to turn its leadership over to a younger generation. Bill has received several awards for his writing, his leadership, and his contribution to the disciple making movement.
The next phase of Bill work will be to encourage other leaders in the disciple making movement. Bill continues to teach at Talbot School of Theology in the Doctoral program. Bill and Jane have been funded through financial support provided by those who believe in them and their cause. Bill has no plans to retire anytime soon, it is not in his DNA and he is needed in a number of ways in the movement. A significant source of income for the Hulls comes through pastors and friends who can encourage the local church to provide the support needed. Bill Hull Ministries is a 501c3 organization with a functioning Board of Directors. BHM has a professional bookkeeping service that provides accounting and reporting.
